I’ve been reading about AdSense Section Targeting, and decided to create an SMF plugin to allow these Forums to take advantage of this feature from Google.
What does it do?
This first implementation I’m presenting is quite basic. It’ll just make AdSense ignore users’ profile information and signatures in posts, and emphasize posts’ titles and content.
I’ve been testing this on a couple of Forums and it’s running quite well. Advertisements have indeed become more related to each topic.
Obtaining it
This is long enough for an introduction. I’ve dedicated a page on my blog to this mod. where you’ll be able to find the latest stable release (currently v1.0) and a full Changelog.
Future plans
I’ll continue to improve it as I learn more on Section Targeting. I’ve considered adding an Administration page to allow for tag customization, but that’ll depend on the mod’s popularity and users’ needs.

what do I need to do?
search tinterweb for titles to posts and see if they come up on google?

What this mod tries to do is to tell AdSense which parts of each message to ignore, such as users’ signatures and profile information, and which to highlight, those being in this first version, each post’s title and body.
The expected result is to get more accurate AdSense advertising on your Forum, but it shouldn’t affect the way GoogleBot crawls your site. To accomplish that, you should install some mod that helps you with SEO, such as SEO4SMF.

At least one error was encountered during a test installation of this package. It is strongly recommended that you do not continue with installation unless you know what you are doing, and have made a backup very recently. This error may be caused by a conflict between the package you’re trying to install and another package you have already installed, an error in the package, a package which requires another package that you don’t have installed yet, or a package designed for another version of SMF.

What seems to be happening is that your Display.template.php file has been modified in the same sections this mod would, so the installer warns you not to continue to avoid any conflict.
I do not recommend forcing the installation. It may work, but then again it may not.
If you have some HTML and PHP knowledge, you may try to install it manually. Otherwise, if you want, send me a copy of your Display.template.php file and I’ll modify the installer to work on it.

Will this mod also work with Yahoo Publisher Network ads, or is it specificly designed to work with Adsense only?

It works only with Google AdSense. I found no way of doing something similar for Yahoo!, unfortunately

I have ERROR when i’m installing this mod.. could u help me plz?
this is how i install it:
firstly i edit my display.template.php with ur instruction
then i installed the adsense mod…
is it the right step to install ur mod?
or if it wrong, could u help me plz?

i have just added this mod for my forum. my question is– Is it adsense legal? what i mean to ask is would google adsense ban my account for any odd reason, does this mod act like a bot to scroll to the adsense ads or something or does this mod create more impressions, simple words adding this mod do i break any rules and regulations of google adsense

I haven’t tested it. As I use the forum software in a production environment only, I’m staying in the stable branch. When 2.0 becomes available, I’ll work on ensuring 2.0 compatibility for the mod.
